Human in the Loop Calendar Agent

N8N

Project's Category

Intro

This one lets a client manage their calendar just by sending a chat message, but it never books or deletes anything without checking in first. An AI agent reads the request, checks the calendar and contacts, and drafts the action before anyone touches a real event.

Problems

The client didn't want a fully autonomous agent creating or deleting events on its own. One wrong guess and a meeting gets double booked, or worse, cancelled by mistake. But they also didn't want to sit there doing the scheduling themselves every time something came up.

Solutions

We built an n8n agent that listens for an incoming chat message, then checks Google Calendar and the contacts list to figure out what's actually being asked. Once it drafts an action, create an event, add an attendee, delete something, it sends the plan out by email and waits for a yes or no. A text classifier reads the reply. Approved requests go to a second agent that actually runs the calendar change. Disapproved ones go to a correction agent that reworks the plan and follows up over Telegram instead of just failing silently.

Final Thoughts

Good pattern for anyone who wants an AI assistant handling their calendar without handing over full control. The human in the loop step costs a few extra seconds, but it means nothing gets booked or deleted without someone actually looking at it first. Worth the wait.
