Airtable Native Automations for Task Management
Make
Project's Category
Intro
This one lives entirely inside Airtable: overdue tasks get flagged, assignees get emailed, and high priority tasks trigger a custom script the moment their priority changes.
Problems
Task priority changes were easy to make in Airtable but hard to act on. Nothing automatically told an assignee they had a new task, overdue items just sat there, and handling a high priority task the moment it appeared meant someone had to be watching the board.
Solutions
We set up three Airtable Automations on the same base. One watches for overdue records and updates them automatically. Another watches for a newly assigned task and sends the assignee an email. The third, the one doing the real work, triggers a custom script the instant a record's priority flips to High, running project specific logic straight from Airtable's own code editor.
Final Thoughts
Keeping the automation inside Airtable instead of routing everything through Make means less latency and one less tool to check when something breaks. For logic this tied to the base itself, that's the simpler call.
